The hotel was tucked away near Karon beach and was a real gem hidden 5 minutes walk from the beach. It was in a quieter area so great for a bit of relaxing at the end of our holiday.
The hotel:
The hotel has a number of room options and all the amenities that you could need. We stayed in a a deluxe sea view pool access suite and also a premier sea view room.
The pool access suite has access to a small pool that runs the length of about 7 rooms on the first floor over looking the main pool and towards the sea. We hadn’t actually booked this room but when we checked in there was a problem with our room so they upgraded us for one night. Pip was so happy with this that she spent most of the 24 hours that we had the room for in the pool. We also took full advantage of having the room and ordered a floating breakfast which despite being for 2 people was for too much food for the 3 of us to eat.

We then moved up a floor to a premier sea view room which was almost the same lay out as the previous room just slightly smaller and with a balcony rather than a patio and pool. We had a couple of issues with the air conditioning not working properly in this room and the hotel staff could not have been more helpful, they did offer us a room change but we couldn’t be bothered to move again so they did their best to fix it and sent us a lovely plate of macaroons to say sorry for the inconvenience.

Both rooms had 2 huge double beds and a small sofa, plenty of storage space in the wardrobe and a small fridge. There was also tea making facilities, a coffee machine and in the pool room, cocktail making equipment. there is a small mini bar and snacks available for an extra price. Bottled water is also provided and refilled every day.

The bathrooms in both rooms were huge with a bath and shower, separate toilet and two sinks.
The hotel has a large pool with a shallow area, sun loungers, swim up bar and water beds.
There is also a really well equipped and air conditioned gym available for use.

The spa:
As a family we love a spa, especially Pip so we booked ourselves in for massages. We all had full body massages and they were wonderfully relaxing and felt really indulgent. The tea and biscuits we had afterwards were also amazing, they even brought more out after Pip polished off an entire plate. The staff were so lovely and friendly it was a lovely experience.

The food:
Breakfast – We had breakfast included in our package which was a buffet served in the Portosino restaurant. Like everywhere else we stayed there was a selection of English, Thai and Indian dishes and also pastries, fruit, yoghurt and cereal. On the day we stayed in the pool room we upgraded to a floating breakfast which was well worth the extra.

Lunch – this is also available in Portosino although we didn’t eat much at the hotel. There are lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance.
Dinner – Portosino serves dinner and has a traditional Thai menu.
Char’d serves pizza and steaks. These are served outdoors either around the water feature area or in it, you can dine with your feet in the warm shallow water. We ate her on our first evening and really enjoyed our pizzas.

Afternoon tea – this is served in a variety of spots around the hotel including you room and we had it in the Portosino restaurant. Afternoon tea came with a choice of tea, tiny sandwiches and savouries and a selection of miniature cakes. There was plenty of food for the 3 of us and we even took some back to our room for later.

The food at the hotel was delicious and there were plenty of options. Eating at the hotel was a more expensive option than eating out though.
Day trips:
There is a desk in reception where you can book excursions and day trips. The woman who worked there spoke excellent English and was very helpful. We arranged a day trip to James Bond Island through her and she also arranged a half day taxi for us to visit Phuket Old Town.
We stayed in April 2023 when Pip was 10.
