The Hole in Wand- crazy golf, York

Crazy golf but with a wizarding twist!

This was our third visit to the Hole in wand and it is still a much requested activity by Pip. The Hole in Wand is indoor crazy golf, with a wizard theme in the centre of York.

Crazy Golf

The course is laid out over 9 holes and 2 floors, each with a slightly different wizarding theme and with different levels of difficulty. There are 2 holes on the ground floor and 7 on the first floor. It’s worth noting that some of the holes are in confined spaces and others are in the dark.

A standard games involves playing the 9 holes, adding up your score and then collecting your wizarding drink at the end depending on how many points you got.

You can add some extra excitement by also playing a scavenger hunt alongside your gold game where you collect clues at each hole in order to find out what has happened to the Gargoyle Grobblenook. This is a great way of keeping younger children and those with not much patience entertained while they are waiting for their turn.

Magic wands (golf clubs) and balls are provided for each player as well as a score card and pencil or magic quill.

Logistics

There is a maximum of 6 players per group.

Children under 15 must be accompanied by someone over 16.

Under 3’s are not able to play but can accompany players, they will be counted towards the group number.

A full round will take 45 – 60 minutes.

Accessibility

The Hole in Wand is laid out over 2 floors and the first floor is not wheelchair accessible. Downstairs does have an accessible toilet and there are 2 holes on this level that can be played.

The Hole in Wand is accessible as possible for other disabilities, including visual stories, sensory bags and free tickets for careers. Full details of their accessibility offer can be found here.
