Plush Cafe, York

100% instagramable and very delicious, Plush cafe is a lot of fun and the food was very good too.

The Cafe

The cafe looks tiny from the outside but is actually a bit of a Tardis inside with 3 differently themed rooms to chose from as well as a takeaway counter.

The Neon downstairs room is dog friendly, it has tables as chairs as well as sofa and armchairs. Decorated in deep colours it has an electric mix of Art Deco and Neomodern design.

The first floor has the option of the Garden room or the Bohemian Room. The garden room has tables with banquette and rope swing seating. Decorated with greenery and florals. The Bohemian Room is floor cushions and low tables and has an Arabian Nights feel to it.

On arrival you can request the room you would like to sit in if it has availability or book an afternoon tea and be guaranteed a table in the room of your choice.

The menu is a mixture of All day Brunch and Pizzas, hot drinks and cocktails. There is a good vegetarian/ vegan selection and also some Gluten free choices.

Our Visit

We chose to sit in the Garden Room as Pip is particularly partial to swing chair. I ordered the Meat is the Wurst Rainbow bagel, with vegan sausages and avocado and Pip had Pancake My Eyes Off of You with berries and bananas. Both meals were absolutely delicious and we would highly recommend. We also ordered an Electric Lemonade and a Blood Moon Rising (which was my favourite). We really enjoyed our meals and also had food envy looking at the meals being eaten around us so will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes.

Accessibility

Due the old building the upstairs rooms and toilet are not accessible for those who use a wheelchair or find stairs difficult. There is a toilet on the lower floor which is up a few steps and then another one on the top floor up quite a lot of steps.

We visited in September 2023 when Pip was 11.
