Tween/ Teen Spa afternoon at Ye Olde Bell Hotel and Spa, Barnby Moor

It’s very difficult to find a Spa that you can take under 16s or even under 18s to, understandably as the point of spas is relaxation and children and teenagers tend to spoil that vibe.

Ye Olde Bell Hotel and Spa have dedicated Spa days for families with the morning reserved for families with children aged 5-15 and the afternoons reserved for 10-15 year olds. The hottest room is turned off but other than that you can make full use of the spa facilities including the sauna and steam rooms, foot baths, experience showers, snowstorm, outdoor pool and outdoor garden.

How it works

The family spa sessions are bookable as a just a spa session with 3 hours access to all the facilities. You can also book individual taster treatments or 30 or 60 minute treatments.

Various packages are also available that include treatments, food at hotel and time in the spa for 1 adult and 1 child.

After you have checked in and filled out all the relevant paperwork you are free to enjoy the spa. There are staff on hand to show you around and explain how everything works. The spa is cashless so any drinks or snacks purchased are put on your tab which you settle before leaving.

There are indoor and outdoor seating areas depending on the weather and the outside area is really beautiful with lots of different seating options.

Robes, towels and flip flops are provided and they do have smaller sizes for younger ones and teens. They have thought of everything and even provide a bag in your locker for your jewellery and a bag to take your wet swimsuit home in.

Our Experience

This was our second time visiting so we knew what to expect. We treated ourselves to a package that included 30 minute treatments each and dinner at the hotel.

We spent some time in the spa when we arrived before going upstairs for our treatments, Pip opted for a facial and I had a back and neck massage. We weren’t able to get our treatments at the same time but we had consecutive appointments with the same therapist.

We then finished off our afternoon with some more spa time. Pip especially enjoyed the experience shower and the ice bucket.

We had dinner booked in the hotel for after our spa which was part of our package. There is a special menu that is included in the package or you can order from the main hotel menu for an extra charge. The menu included in the package has a good selection and I went for tomato pasta and Pip for pepperoni pizza. Drinks are not included in the package.

The family spa days feel are a great way for some pamper time or relaxation as a family. We really enjoyed it and it is one of the things we have done that Pip has consistently asked to go back and do again. The spa is really beautiful and it is a really lovely way to spend some time with Pip.

We visited in August 2025 when Pip was 13, we also visited in summer 2023.
