The weather starting to turn wintery reminded me that I really needed to get my flu vaccination so this week I braved the rain and now hopefully am protected from some of the winter germs! I have a sore arm but I have soldiered on!!
We spent an evening this week planning Christmas activities which included booking a Christmas theatre trip and our Christmas Eve adventure (we always try to have an activity on Christmas Eve, normally not a traditionally Christmas one). We’ve also finally sorted out Christmas Day.
On Saturday, we (me and my Mum and Dad) cracked open Christmas with a trip to Harewood House to the Little Bird Made Christmas market. It was wonderful and chaotic in equal measures. There was supposed to be time slots to control visitor numbers but we queued for an hour to get in and it was heaving. However the stalls were fabulous and there was a massive selection of places to eat and drink. I totally failed with the Christmas shopping by managing to by stuff for myself and no one else, I could have spent a fortune on handmade goodies.
Also, I’ve discovered a special knack for managing to miss the brass band playing Christmas carols. Every time I heard them and went over to listen, they had stopped by the time I got there. Just need to work out how to use this new super power for good!
Our takeaway from the day is we would definitely like to go again next year but will book some time off work and go on the Monday or Tuesday when it will be quieter, hopefully combined with a trip around the house.

Sunday was Remembrance Sunday and for the first time in a number of years I managed to attend the parade service with my Guides. They were all so smart and respectful, even the Rainbows managed the minute’s silence.
