Oh how I love this hotel! It’s family run so it has a real homely feel, the food is delicious and the spa area smells amazing, we could have stayed here forever.
The Hotel
The hotel is right in the middle of Bad Hofgastein, 10 minutes walk from the ski base station and close to everything else you could need.

There are a number of room options from single through to double and suites. We had a suite which meant that Pip was on the sofa bed in a room of her own. This worked brilliantly although we were all so tired at night, we weren’t awake for much longer than she was. The rooms were very clean, warm and comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay.

The main hotel is split across two buildings with a walkway joining them on the first floor so that you don’t need to go outside in the cold. The main building has reception and the restaurant and the second building has the spa, conference room and table tennis room.

The hotel family also includes the Apartment Hotel Panorama next door and the Amarella Apartments which also have use of the Spa.
The Food
Oh my goodness the food! You are allocated a table on arrival so you a have the same member of staff looking after you for the full week. Our waiter Joseph was amazing, he got to know what we all liked to drink and really looked after the kids, making sure they had their food and didn’t have to wait for us to finish our starters. He also took amazing care of us on my birthday and the hotel organised cake and candles for me.
Our package was dinner bed and breakfast. Breakfast was served between 7:30 -10:30am with a choice of cereals, bread, pastries, fruit and yogurt. Pancakes or waffles were also available each day with scrambled eggs and bacon as well as an omelette station and salad, cold meats and cheese.
Dinner was amazing every night. 5 courses which included starter, soup, salad, main and dessert. The menu was on the table at breakfast for you to order your main from a meat, fish and vegetarian option. There is also a children’s menu with several options. The food was amazing and completely delicious.

The Spa
Celtic Spa is located under the hotel and consists of a treatment area, spa and gym. The whole area was completely spotless and smelled amazing.
Pip and I had treatments in the spa, Pip had a a children’s massage with chocolate body butter and I had a Vitality massage from Stefan who was amazing and helped to sort out my dodgy shoulder. They were able to book us in at the same time in the same room and the staff were great with both of us.
The Spa area has a pool, relaxation rooms, a family sauna and an adult sauna area. The saunas open at 3pm. The pool area has sun loungers and during the day is very quiet getting busier after everyone has finished skiing for the day.

Bath robes are available from hotel reception for €10 a week and they even have children’s sizes, it’s a good idea to bring something for your feet for by the pool and when walking to Alpentherme.
Hotel Österreichischer Hof is a premium partner of Alpentherme and has bathrobe access via a tunnel between the hotel and Aplentherme. This means you can change in your room and walk down to Alpentherme via the tunnel without having to go outside. Access to Alpentherme is also included in your stay and you are given a wristband when you check in that gives you access whenever you want.
Late Check Out
On the day we left we were able to leave our luggage with reception, although they don’t have a secure room for luggage like most hotels. There are changing rooms in the Spa area and also a changing room and lockers next to the table tennis room that you can use to store valuables while you are skiing or using the spa.
Around the hotel
There are 2 supermarkets almost next door to the hotel and plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Everything else is within easy walking distance and it is ideally situated.
