B&B Plitvice Falls Cottage – Piltvice, Croatia

Plitvice is the oldest and biggest national park in Croatia. To optimise our time we picked an accommodation that was walking distance from one of the park entrances. This meant we could get in to the park as early as possible to avoid the large crowds.

The accommodation:

The hotel is one of two accommodations on the same plot of land although they are completely separate residences. B&B Plitvice Falls Cottage has 7 rooms of various configurations so they can accommodate families of various sizes. We had a triple room for me Andy and Pip and the the Attic family suite for the other family of 4 that we were with. The attic suite actually has 2 separate bedrooms and a living space and actually sleeps 5 as it has a day bed in the living area.

The rooms are modern and comfortable and are equipped with a TV, kettle and mugs for hot drinks.

On the lower floor there is the kitchen and breakfast area. There is a large outdoor terrace and seating area at the back of the property where you can have drinks or a meal.

There is a mini bar in each room, air conditioning and wifi throughout the hotel.

Food:

The hotel serves an extensive breakfast. There is a small kitchen area where you can help yourself to cereals, breads, fruit, yogurts, juices and hot drinks. There is also a selection of cooked breakfast items such as eggs, omelets and sausages. They will also cook items to order to cater for allergies. The breakfast even included home grown figs which were delicious.

Dinner is served outside on the terrace. They have an evening menu that isn’t extensive but does have a reasonable choice and they were able to cater for allergies.

Parking:

There is plenty of parking right outside the front door and on the day we checked out we were able to leave our car while we went back in to the park.

Around the hotel:

The hotel is within Plitvice Lakes National Parks and it is a short walk from the hotel to entrance gate 3. The walk down to the lakes is lovely and easy and the scenery is amazing. As the hotel is within the park there isn’t much else nearby, you will need a car if you want to go out to eat elsewhere.

We stayed in August 2022 when Pip was 10. Full information about the hotel can be found on their website here.
