Jenny’s Tea Shop, Harrogate

The photo shows Jenny's Tea Shop, a small, one storey stone building with a black slate roof and bay window. Above the window there is a blue sign which says Jenny's Tea Shop.
Behind the Tea shop are other larger stone buildings and in front is an old fashioned gas street lamp, some tables and chairs and part of a table umbrella. To the right of the tea shop is a red phone box.

On a mission to find the best afternoon tea in Harrogate we popped in to Jenny’s Tea Shop. It’s a tiny tea shop but run by some very friendly people and the food is absolutely delicious.

Jenny’s is located on Montpellier Street in a tiny courtyard that it shares with an antique shop. It is slightly tucked away off Montepellier Street but well signposted.

Inside, Jenny’s has a handful of tables and is decorated with vintage tea sets and table cloths. Your drinks and food are served on an un-matching tea cups and plates which just adds to the charm. There is also an outdoor seating area if you happen to catch Harrogate on a sunny day and want to sit outside.

Afternoon Tea

The menu at Jenny’s Tea Shop has a selection of hot and cold sandwiches, soup, toasted teacakes and crumpets and cakes. We decided to go for the full afternoon tea because you only live once!

Jenny’s has a slightly different set up as you get to pick which sandwiches and cake you want from the menu as part of your afternoon tea which was great for us a a vegetarian and a fussy 11 year old. We went for cheese and tuna mayonnaise sandwiches. You also get to choose an entire piece of cake, Pip went for Victoria sponge and I chose coffee and walnut. The tea also comes with 2 scones and a garnish of salad and fruit.

Your afternoon tea also comes with a hot drink of choice, I had earl grey tea and Pip went for a hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows.

Our eyes were obviously bigger than our bellies and we didn’t manage to get through everything but they were happy to package it all up for us so that we could take it home with us.

Afternoon tea for two was £32.00.

Our thoughts

We are massive fans of an afternoon tea and we really enjoyed this one. The food was delicious and well presented and the staff were all so lovely. We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it as an afternoon tea option in Harrogate.
