The Oldest Sweet Shop in England and an abandoned Church

The final week of January has passed in a bit of a blur, Andy has been away so I have mainly just been taxiing Pip to her various activities around trying to get some work done.

Pip and I did managed a little walk and an explore on Sunday though. She is really loving taking her camera for a walk at the moment and is managing to capture some great shots (I’m trying my best too).

We followed a walk that we found on The Reluctant Explorers site which started in Pateley Bridge and followed a route up to Glasshouses finishing at St Mary’s Church. St Mary’s Church has been closed since 1826 as it was too small and too difficult to get to. The church is now just a shell with only the walls and tower remaining set in the peaceful surroundings of nature and graveyard.

The highlight of the walk was obviously visiting the Oldest Sweet Shop in England for a quarter of jelly babies (Pip) and a quarter of liquorice torpedoes (me).
