The hotel
Elounda Garden Suites is a small, friendly hotel located in Elounda, Crete. It was a little Oasis set in the middle of town with a beautiful pool and modern, clean apartments. A link to the hotel website can be found here.

There are a number of different suites all located around the pool and bar area. We stayed in a ground floor family suite with a double room, a living room with a sofa bed for Pip and a small kitchen area with a kettle, fridge and double ring hob. There was a second sofa that could have been made up as a separate single bed to accommodate 2 children. We also had patio area at the front and back of the suite.

The hotel has a small heated pool with a number of sun beds. A bar and a seating area next to reception and the breakfast room. It’s a great set up for when you want an apartment rather than a hotel but still with the option of catered breakfast.

The staff were amazing, really helpful and friendly. Always happy to chat and give tips and advice for things to see in the local area. We were also given a lovely gift of some local olive oil and there was a fruit bowl and wine and water in our room on arrival.
There was a mixture of guests so not all adults and not all families. Pip managed to find someone of her age to play with.
The hotel has a number of parking spaces and there is also more parking further up the road.
Food
The hotel serves breakfast in their breakfast room from 7:30am to 11am. We chose not to pay extra for breakfast as we’re not always breakfast people but they do a great selection of cereals, fruits and cooked foods.

The bar is really well stocked and serves soft drinks, alcohol and coffes. They also serve food from 12 – 3pm and there was an amazing selection of pizzas, salads and other bits all freshly cooked.
Around the hotel
Elounda harbour is a 5 minute walk away. There are lots of restaurants here and you can sit at the water font and watch the boats come and go.

There are also a couple of small supermarkets and souvenir shops and a taxi rank. Elounda has a small beach area although on the whole that area of coast is fairly rocky and has a number of pebble beaches.

From the harbour you can take a boat trip or a trip to the island of Spinalonga. The smaller village of Plaka is a short drive away.

We stayed in April 2022 when Pip was 9 and would highly recommend.
