Palmon Bay Hotel and Spa – Igalo, Montenegro

Palmon Bay hotel and Spa is in Igalo which is one of the first towns you get to after you cross the border in to Montenegro from Croatia. We stayed for 3 nights for a bit of relaxation at the end of our road trip throughout Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro.

The hotel:

The hotel is new and modern and we really enjoyed our stay here. Located on the outskirts of Igalo, it has it’s own beach and is within walking distance of Igalo town, shop, bars and restaurants.

There is a selection of room types. We stayed in a standard room with an extra bed for Pip. We were on the ground floor and overlooked a small strip of grass and a hedge which despite not being the best of views, was actually fine as it meant it was quiet and no one walked past. Some of the higher rooms have a sea view. The room had plenty of space for the 3 of us and a balcony which was useful for drying swimwear.

The hotel itself is set back from the sea, to get to the pool and the seafront you need to go our of the back gates, across the road and through the gates in to the hotels pool and beach area. It’s a very short walk.

The hotel has all the usual amenities including a spa, indoor pool, restaurants and bars.

The Spa:

The spa was our favourite part of the hotel. They have an indoor pool and hot tub as well as a private room with hot tubs for guests that would prefer a private area for religious reasons. They offer a variety of treatments and both Pip and I had amazing massages. We would go back for the spa and massages alone!

The pool:

The outdoor pool is on the other side of the road from the hotel next to the sea. The pool has it’s own bar and we found there were plenty of free sun loungers. Towels are available from the pool reception desk.

Food:

Main restaurant:

Breakfast and dinner buffets are served in the main restaurant on the lower ground floor. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious with the usual continental options as well as eggs and cooked meats.

Dinner again was a buffet option. I am vegetarian and while there was usually only one vegetarian option there was also plenty of vegetables, bread and salad. We also had gluten free requirements in our group and the chefs were excellent at making sure that fresh gluten free option were available including baking gluten free bread.

Rooftop restaurant:

This is bookable and an extra charge if you are staying on a dinner, bed and breakfast booking. We had an amazing meal here one evening for a birthday celebration while watching the sun set over the sea. Again the staff were amazing with our dietary requirements and even made a gluten free birthday cake!

There are also various bars around the main hotel including on the roof top with some great views.

The pool has it’s own bar and snack menu.

Around the hotel:

The hotel is at the far end of the main strip so it is easy walking distance to various bars and restaurants but not too noisy. There are also souvenir shops and further down in to Igalo there are some amusements.

Further down the coast are the towns of Herceg Novi, Perast and Kotor which are worth a vist and the scenery is very beautiful.

Child friendly:

The hotel is really child friendly and welcoming, Pip was welcomed in the spa and had a massage and there was always something she was happy to eat. There are also shallower areas in the pool.

We stayed in the hotel in August 2022 when Pip was 10.
