The original borough of Bab Tooma is located in the world’s oldest inhabited city of Damascus, Syria and is also one of the seven gates of the city. The Leeds restaurant is in a slightly easier to get to location of Oakwood, just opposite Roundhey Park. I’d never eaten Syrian Food before but am now a complete convert and Bab Tooma may be my favourite restaurant in Leeds.
The food is all middle-eastern inspired and absolutely delicious and the restaurant has a real authentic middle-eastern feel to it with a modern twist.
The food is cooked fresh on site and has a big range of options including vegetarian and vegan dishes. As everything is cooked fresh they are happy to add a little extra spice, make a dish a little milder or leave out ingredients.
The menu is split in to cold mezzes, hot mezzes and grills. We went with the cold platter to start which was a selection of hummous type dips and delicious flatbreads.
Bab Tooma has 3 locations, one in Oakwood just outside Leeds and two in Bradford, one on Wilton Street and the other on Leeds Road.
As well as eat-in they also do a takeaway and delivery service, outside catering and can cater for large parties if you would like to hire the restaurant or part of the restaurant.
