Yolk Farm – Minskip, North Yorkshire

Yolk farm declares itself to be the first egg restaurant on a real egg farm! Located near Boroughbridge, Yolk is a restaurant, farm shop and farm experience all rolled in to one.

What to expect:

There are 3 parts to Yolk Farm; the restaurant, the farm shop and the animals. The farm shop and restaurant are in the wooden building to your right as you drive in to the car park and the animals are located in the areas behind the car park.

The restaurant:

Open from 9:30-4:00 on weekdays and 9:00 – 4:00, the restaurant serves an egg and chicken inspired breakfast, brunch and lunch menu as well as a selection of cakes and hot, cold and alcoholic drinks.

The restaurant is reminiscent of a beautifully converted barn with a selection of seating including some tables with swing seating that is always a hit with Pip.

The food is always delicious and beautifully presented.

The farm shop:

The farm shop has a selection of fresh and local products.

There is also a zero waste refill station and a wide variety of locally made produce. They even have a gorgeous ginger cat who works in the shop and gives free cuddles with any purchase made.

The animals:

You are able to visit the chickens that laid the eggs you had for your lunch and their alpaca guardians in the fields behind the car park. There are also pigs and goats that can be visited and a lots of space for running off all that cake.

Outdoor sinks are provided so that you can wash your hands after saying hi to the animals.

Yolk offer an alpaca experience where you can get up close and personal with the alpacas and feed them some treats. You can read about our visit with them here.

Events:

Yolk run several different events including Yoga with the alpacas, evenings for special occasions, cookery courses, art classes and children’s holiday activities. Details of current events can be found on their website here.
